We are all broken! No perfect people here. The brokenness of people sometimes becomes amplified and grows into a weapon of destruction toward each other, all too often by the carelessness of those with a public platform. This fire of destruction is growing, being stoked daily by Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, Daily Media News, whether it be by Evening News broadcast on television or by Newspapers, Faith Ministries, Youtube, Music lyrics, Podcasts and the list goes on and on. Even this blob post can fan the fire of controversy and people can get hurt needlessly, even if that intent was not purposed. So the level of responsibility is high and an opinion or theory is never to be considered the truth; but only an opinion.
I'm wondering what the root of this outbreak is? When did humanity stop caring about each other? Especially in the Christian Faith community. It seems to me that the process has happened slowly. "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks" it says in Matthew 12. Then in Proverbs 21 it says that the Lord weighs the hearts. So I have to ask myself the question, "Is it a heart condition?" and if so when did it begin? In Galatians 5 the scripture says that the Spirit and flesh war against each other. I don't think that this is a new issue since all these above mentioned things have obviously been ongoing from the beginning of mankind as told in the Bible beginning with Genesis.
However, according to scripture, 2 Timothy 3, (paraphrased) evil men and seducers will wax worse and worse... but Christians are to continue in the things that they have learned and consider from whom they learned them. So I conclude that Christians are not to follow the ways of the world. Stirring up strife is a way of the world.
Folks, we must do better! In my opinion, it truly is a condition of the heart which leads me to the question "Do our hearts need purged?" And if so, what does that look like? Maybe purging of the heart would begin with resisting thoughts that come so they will not trickle down into the heart. And how can we resist? Maybe thinking about where those thoughts originate... and to resist requires an action. On purpose, when the thoughts come we must remind ourselves that we are not perfect either. Another step may involve forgiveness of other people's imperfections, knowing the Lord's Prayer tells us that with the same measure that we forgive others, is the same measure that our Heavenly Father will forgive us. If we truly believe in forgiveness, we will have no targets. So could it be that for the condition of the heart to be perfected, we must embrace forgiveness?
Maybe, just maybe, since we are all broken in one way or another, should we not consider that God may have us all together in the middle of much brokenness for a reason? One person does not have it all. Maybe by forgiving and working together, being we are many parts to a whole body with different gifts and strengths... only together can we have it all. If so, until we learn that no one person has all the answers, we must begin listening well to each other in our brokenness. There is no family, no community or no country without forgiveness. We cannot leave anyone out.
When mankind has all by itself turned against each other, then darkness doesn't have a job to do... man has destroyed himself...
